Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has revealed to The Sun that Jose Mourinho wanted him at Manchester United.

Kante joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Blues had to pay the Foxes a transfer fee in the region of £30 million.

The 25-year-old midfielder has revealed that Mourinho wanted to sign him for United before his move from Leicester to Chelsea.

“It was amazing to have Mourinho call me, even though I’d been warned before how he would appeal to me,” Kante told The Sun.

“I listened to his arguments about why I should move to United. But at that time I was hesitant between staying at Leicester or leaving for Chelsea.

“My discussions with them were already well underway. But when I spoke, I had a good feeling with Conte.”

Kante was one of the best players in the Premier League last season and was a key figure in the Foxes’ title triumph.

The France international has already started to show what he is capable of at Chelsea.

The former Caen midfielder will be an important player for Chelsea this season, who are one of the main contenders for the Premier League title.

Antonio Conte’s side have made a strong start to the season and have won all three of their league matches so far.

Manchester City and Manchester United are Chelsea’s main challengers for the Premier League title during the 2016-17 campaign.
