Neymar has showered England duo Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite the latter not being selected by Gareth Southgate in the final 26-man squad.

Speaking to the Telegraph, the Brazil superstar was full of praise for Tottenham talisman and England captain Kane and Manchester United winger Sancho, who The National report turned down Liverpool in order to move to Old Trafford last summer in a £73m deal.

Whilst Kane will has head to Qatar to skipper England in his second World Cup, Sancho will be watching from home as poor form and a lack of playing time as seen the United winger miss out on selection for the Three Lions squad yet again, with the youngster being omitted during the September internationals as well.

However, that didn’t stop Neymar from leading Sancho, as well as Kane, ahead of the World Cup, with the attacker saying when asked who his favourite England players are: “I really like Kane and Sancho. They’re two incredible players and I have a special love for them because I like players that have their qualities.”

Indeed, whilst Sancho won’t be in Qatar, England still have plenty of quality and options out on the wing, with the likes of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka all expected to play starring roles for Southgate’s squad in their quest to win a second World Cup.

And for Neymar, the Three Lions will be a nation to keep an eye on, with England arguably having their best chance yet of winning a World Cup in some time after a strong showing in Russia four years ago and their run to the Euro 2020 final last year.

The World Cup this year will likely be the tightest competition in some years, with no clear favourite yet to emerge pre-tournament and many top nations missing key players due to injury. And Neymar is right to highlight the quality England have heading into this month’s fixtures.

After all, England have been blessed with very few injuries to key players, and whilst there’s every chance that the Three Lions can slip up, Southgate knows what is at stake with the World Cup this year, with another strong showing the perfect platform to build from ahead of future competitions.
