Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has sent his words of support to Philippe Coutinho on Instagram after the Aston Villa playmaker was left out of Brazil’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 30-year-old missed Villa’s 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday because of injury, but many were still expecting him to be left out of Brazil boss Tite’s final cut for their trip to the Middle East, anyway.

Coutinho spoke on his IG about an injury keeping him on the sidelines for several weeks and how he will be ‘in the heart and soul cheering like all Brazillians’ at the upcoming World Cup.

He is yet to register a goal or an assist for Villa this season, as Neymar posted to the player in the comments section ‘I love you, ace’.

COUTINHO SHOULD HAVE NO COMPLAINTS

The Steven Gerrard era didn’t just put the brakes on Villa’s progress, but it declined a number of players within the squad and someone like Emiliano Buendia is no different.

He has warmed the bench for large parts of the last 12 months, yet this time last season, he was an Argentina international and earning that all-important call for his country.

For Coutinho, it’s slightly different, the spark, the edge and the attacking quality of his game just hasn’t been there.

It’s a big reason why Gerrard is out of the door, but with Emery now in the dugout, post-World Cup, someone like Coutinho will be hoping life is injected back into his game.

Whilst at the age of 30, he will feel his dream of repping Brazil at a major tournament is over, well, if he can get his career back on track during these next 12 months, then he definitely has one more chance.
