After a disappointing 0-0 draw with Olympiakos in their last outing this is a big game for Arsenal’s young players, as they can go to the summit of their Group with victory.
Arsenal travel to the 1,700 capacity Stade Marcel Cerdan in France for their NextGen fixture with Olympiakos this evening. Arsenal’s first team struggled in Europe with defeat to Schalke 04 and their youth team players will be hoping to give them something to smile about with victory in the south of France.
It is the only game in action today and Arsenal can try to get an advantage in their group containing Athletic Bilbao and Olympiakos.
Currently the two have a game in hand on top side Olympiakos who sit on five points at the summit of Group 6 and victory in this game for the Young Gunners would leave them top of the group on seven points with just two games remaining.
So far they have struggled away from home in the competition with a defeat in Greece on the 12th September and after a 0-0 draw, again with the Greek outfit, on their last NextGen outing a victory in France is important for the teams progression to the next stage of the competition.
Marseille will not be easy to beat at home, where they are currently undefeated in the competition including a win against Athletic Bilbao.
Arsenal travelled to France yesterday to get fully prepared for the fixture and took in the Arsenal first-teamers disappointing defeat to Schalke in their hotel.
Watching Serge Gnabry playing in the Champions League has acted as a real inspiration for some of the players and Chuba Akpom was one to mention how inspiring that could be.
So here are some Tweets from Arsenal’s youngsters in France, looking for victory.
We at HITC wish them all the best of luck!
