Wolverhampton Wanderers sacked manager Walter Zenga last week, with Paul Lambert reportedly set to come in.
Just over a week after sacking Walter Zenga, it appears that Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on appointing their new manager.
Wolves took the decision to sack Zenga last Tuesday, after the Italian won just four of his 14 Championship games in charge of the club, and Rob Edwards was put in charge for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers.

Zenga lasted less than three months in the job having replaced Kenny Jackett over the summer, and owners Fosun International must now get this appointment right with Wolves sitting in 17th place in the Championship.
It now appears that Wolves have found their man, as betting was suspended on Paul Lambert taking the job, with his odds as short as 1/8 this afternoon.
The Express and Star report that no final decision has been made by Wolves just yet, but Lambert appears to be edging towards a return to management having left Blackburn Rovers over the summer.
Molineux
Lambert, 47, is no stranger to the Midlands having managed Aston Villa for almost three years, before being sacked in February 2015 having won just 29.6% of his games in charge of the club.
Lambert fared better in 33 games as Blackburn boss last season, winning 36.4% of his games, an as no stranger to the Championship having won promotion to the Premier League with Norwich City in 2011, it seems that Fosun International are set to go with his experience.

The move could also be good for caretaker Edwards. The Welshman was signed by Lambert at Norwich back in 2011, and their prior relationship means that Edwards should be able to keep his job as First Team Coach whilst learning his craft under Lambert.
The odds could well change in the coming days, but betting suspended often means that things are nailed-on – and Lambert could be calling Molineux his new home in the coming days.
