A claim has emerged that Julian Nagelsmann is keen to discover his role in terms of having a say on transfers if becomes the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.

A report stated on Monday that Daniel Levy has shortlisted the former Bayern Munich boss alongside Luis Enrique as one of his two main candidates for the job.

It seems like one of the factors Julian Nagelsmann assessing before he decides to become the next Tottenham manager is his degree of control in the transfers department.

Journalist: Nagelsmann wants transfer say if he becomes Tottenham manager

At Spurs, several coaches in the past have suffered one of two fates: either the club have been overly frugal and held a manager back, as was the case during the Mauricio Pochettino era.

Or, as was the case under Antonio Conte’s time in N17, the recruitment was hit-and-miss: for every Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, underwhelming players like Ivan Perisic and Richarlison were brought in.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg claimed that Julian Nagelsmann is exploring a number of factors before deciding if he fancies becoming the next Tottenham manager, including his say on transfers.

“Nagelsmann wants to know what role he plays there, also in terms of transfers”, Plettenburg said on Sky Sports.

HITC View: Spurs should let Nagelsmann have a big say on new signings

It seemed like Fabio Paratici’s role in terms of calling the shots when it came to new signings was excessive, as the business under his time in charge was largely underwhelming to say the least.

While it would naïve for even Julian Nagelsmann, branded as a ‘supercoach’ by Owen Hangreaves via Eurosport to expect to have full control over transfers as the future Tottenham manager, he should have the power to request certain targets and approve incomings.

It would be unfair to ultimately turn on any coach, especially one that is wedded to his tactical ideologies as much as Nagelsmann to bring in players that never suited him in the first place.
