It has been reported that Burnley are set to offer Tottenham Hotspur manager target Vincent Kompany a new contract.
A claim was made on Thursday that Daniel Levy had been ‘blown away’ by the Clarets boss, and he was considered as his No.1 target for the job in N17.
But it seems as if Burnley plan to ensure that Tottenham Hotspur keep their prying hands off their prized manager in Vincent Kompany by tying him down to a contract extension.

Branded as a ‘world-beater’ already by pundit duo Johan Boskamp and Ander van der Meyde, the Belgian boss is already being viewed as a guarantee to become a huge success in management.
After all, the 36-year-old already has Pep Guardiola’s public blessing to manage Manchester City, as the legendary tactician seems to rate him highly as a coach.
While those within the Tottenham camp may perhaps have been salivating at the prospect of Vincent Kompany becoming their manager, the Daily Mail report that Burnley are set to offer him a new contract.
It has been stated that when Kompany stepped foot at Turf Moor in the summer, he was already tied down to a deal believed to expire in four or five years but now, the plan remains to extend it further on improved terms.
Perhaps the bad news for Tottenham is that the report has mentioned that Kompany has never intended to leave Burnley so early within his tenure, which perhaps indicates that his aim is to remain as their manager for a while.
Ultimately, Spurs need to pitch a project that lures coaches like the Premier League Hall of Fame inductee to make their way to the club.
And currently, it seems like the job is nothing more than just a poisoned chalice.
