A brand-new report has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur manager target Luis Enrique is no longer a top candidate to join Chelsea.

A claim had emerged on Tuesday that the treble-winning coach at Barcelona was happy to hold face-to-face talks with Spurs.

As both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are on the lookout for a new manager, it seems like Luis Enrique has been virtually ruled out to take over the job in West London.

Tottenham now favourites instead of Chelsea in Luis Enrique race

The Spaniard is regarded as one of the best managers in Europe, with him admitting that he considers himself as the ‘best coach on the face of the Earth’, as that mentality is what is needed to become a winner.

As quoted by Reuters when Enrique made this claim, many believe that a coach of his calibre would be the dream for Spurs if they aim to turn around their fortunes as an institution.

In a report by the Telegraph journalist Matt Law, he has claimed that Tottenham may have a ‘clear run’ at appointing Luis Enrique, with the highly-acclaimed manager now seen as an ‘outsider’ for the Chelsea job.

Another detail that has been mentioned is that the Blues’ attentions have now moved elsewhere instead of towards the former Spain boss.

Despite managing one of the weakest Spain squads in recent years, the biggest compliment one can pay to the 52-year-old is how his team looked like a club side at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

If Chelsea indeed no longer fancy appointing Luis Enrique as their next manager, Tottenham must bring him in, considered how he could revolutionise their style of play and set a blueprint for years.

Enrique has thrived in scenarios amongst elite players whilst also having worked in limited sides, which makes him perhaps the perfect fit for the vacancy in N17.
