A fresh claim has emerged that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot will reject Tottenham Hotspur unless they get their house in order.

It was reported on Tuesday that the Dutch coach was likely to join a Premier League club if the offer came, as he was dying to manage in the English top-flight.

However, there seems to be a twist in the tale as it has been suggested that unless Tottenham Hotspur sort out their own mess, Arne Slot will decline the opportunity to become their manager.

It seems like the Spurs job has become a bit of a poisoned chalice, as the personnel, recruitment as well as the ambition are simply not up to scratch.

Not to suggest that the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte were faultless but, in some ways, it would also be fair to claim that the odds were stacked against them.

Journalist Sjoerd Mossou has said that unless Tottenham clean up their own mess, Arne Slot, branded as ‘Pep Guardiola-like’ by Football Oranje editor Michael Bell via i News is likely to remain the Feyenoord manager next season.

“But I mainly think he will stay for private reasons. That he thinks: ‘My children go to school here, I can stay where I live, I have a good life at Feyenoord. I’ll stay another year’”, he told Feyenoord Pings.

Honing in on the fact that Tottenham manager Arne Slot could snub the vacancy, he said, “But he is not crazy. He’s not going to jump into total chaos, like at Chelsea. Slot does want to have a few conditions where he can work normally, otherwise you’re fired after two months.

“I think that’s his main thing. Everyone wants to work in the Premier League, how many chances do you get?”

Unless Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann or Xabi Alonso are overly keen, they are likely to have the same outlook as well.

Ultimately, a manager and not all the players can get the sack, which is why one can understand why Arne Slot is hesitant about taking the Tottenham job.

Daniel Levy must appoint a new sporting director, provide assurances in the transfer market and align with the Dutchman’s vision to have any chance of bringing him in.
