Tottenham Hotspur admire Michael Carrick as they seemingly weigh up a move for the Middlesbrough boss this summer.

That is according to 90Min, who claim that Tottenham at least have one eye on Michael Carrick.

The Boro boss joins a whole list of managers Spurs are eyeing up to replace Antonio Conte.

Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Arne Slot and Ruben Amorim are mentioned once again, as they so often have been.

Carrick is a new rumour though with Tottenham seemingly impressed by his work at Middlesbrough.

The former Spurs midfielder took the reins at Boro in October following Chris Wilder’s exit.

Boro were struggling at the time but Carrick has masterfully guided them into the Championship playoffs.

Carrick has pushed a superb brand of football along the way and many are now tipping him to become a top manager in the future.

Tottenham appear to be keeping close tabs on Carrick’s progress – and will be watching how he fares in the Championship playoffs.

It may be too early for Michael Carrick to join Tottenham

Carrick joined Tottenham as a player back in 2004, making a bargain £3.5million move from West Ham United.

Carrick went on to make 75 appearances for Tottenham before being snapped up by Manchester United.

Whilst the midfielder impressed for Tottenham, he won’t exactly go down as a Spurs legend having only spent two years there.

A return to North London may still appeal to Carrick but going for him right now would be a gamble.

Spurs are in a complete mess at the moment, both and off the pitch.

Carrick has been in management for less than a year and jumping into this Spurs job may be a step too far.

Yes, Tottenham should keep tabs on Carrick for the future but as far as going for him this summer goes, we think Spurs should be looking elsewhere.
