The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has said that Tottenham Hotspur have unanimously decided that they will not appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the new head coach.

Ornstein has said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel that the Tottenham board have made a decision that they will not go back to the Argentine manager.

According to The Times, Pochettino is set to become the new manager of Chelsea.

Former Tottenham forward Alan Brazil has said on talkSPORT that the 51-year-old wanted to go back to Spurs and was waiting for club chairman Daniel Levy to give him a call.

During his time at Tottenham, Pochettino led the team to regular top-four finishes in the Premier League table and also guided the side to the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

Tottenham Hotspur decision on Mauricio Pochettino

Ornstein said, as transcribed by TBR: “For many reasons they might not want to go back.

“From what I hear, that’s a unanimous view in the hierarchy that it would be better to move on, like a marriage maybe that has fallen apart. It won’t work second time round.”

HITC Verdict: Strange decision

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should have at least spoken to Mauricio Pochettino.

We all know how good Spurs were under the Argentine manager.

Yes, in the end, Levy did not feel that Pochettino could take the Tottenham team forward and let him leave, but look at what has happened since then.

Spurs have not progressed since Pochettino left.

We believe that Tottenham should have at least spoken to the Argentine over a potential return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
