Tottenham Hotspur are expected to turn to Feyenoord boss Arne Slot if a move to appoint Julian Nagelsmann fails to materialise.

That’s according to The Independent, who claim that Slot is likely to emerge as Tottenham’s top managerial target if they can’t land Nagelsmann.

Tottenham would love to appoint Nagelsmann but appreciate a deal will be tricky.

The German will want assurances over his input on transfers whilst the budget and infrastructure will be under the microscope.

Nagelsmann may have backed away from Chelsea but that doesn’t mean a move to Tottenham is nailed on.

Daniel Levy and co are at least being wise in having other targets in mind and Slot appears to be chief among them.

The Feyenoord boss has been heavily linked with Tottenham for weeks now but a firm Spurs pursuit seemingly depends on Nagelsmann.

Arne Slot has worked wonders at Feyenoord

Tottenham are a complete mess at the moment, both on and off the pitch.

Luring any manager away from another club won’t be easy but Slot has certainly done enough this season to justify Tottenham’s interest.

Slot guided Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final last season only to lose out to Roma.

Feyenoord then lost a raft of key players, including Tyrell Malacia, Marcos Senesi, Fredrik Aursnes and Luis Sinisterra.

Rebuilding this Feyenoord wasn’t supposed to be easy but Slot has somehow made them even better inside a year.

Feyenoord sit top of the Eredivisie table and are edging closer by the week to winning the title.

Slot has pushed a superb brand of football throughout as well, leading to his style being described as ‘ultra-attacking’ by Dutch journalist Marcel van de Kraan.

Slot appears destined for even bigger things in the years to come and if he really is Tottenham’s backup plan to Nagelsmann, then Spurs could yet strike gold.
