Reported Everton and West Ham United target Oussama Idrissi has admitted that he plans to leave AZ Alkmaar this summer, speaking to Voetbal Primeur.

If you don’t feel some sort of sympathy AZ fans, you must have a heart of stone – or be an Ajax fan, of course.

Back in March, when Idrissi sealed a 2-0 victory over Ajax with a glorious second-half lob, arguably the most exciting team in Holland were dreaming of glory again.

But, thanks to the ongoing global health crisis which forced the KNVB to bring the Eredivisie season to an end, this fleet-footed Moroccan was cruelly denied the chance to scribe his name into Dutch football folklore.

Now, with West Ham, Everton and Leicester City all apparently interested, according to Calciomercato in February, there is a very real chance that Idrissi has played his final game in AZ colours.

“I have the ambition to take the next step,” says the former Groningen flyer, who would be interested in a move to Italy.

“That’s certainly a level you want to work towards.”

Idrissi has been one of the most dangerous attackers in Holland over the last two seasons, contributing 17 goals and ten assists in 2019/20 alone.

Like a right-footed Arjen Robben, the Dutch-born winger loves to cut inside from the flanks and fire those rocket shots towards goal to often devastating effect.

And Everton’s interest surely has something to do with the fact that they have a former Eredivisie champion, Marcel Brands, as their director of football these days.
