Leicester City youngster Sidnei Tavares is ready to take ‘the next step’ as reports link him with a move to Celtic, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, as he told Record.

If we told you that some of the biggest clubs in Europe were queuing up to sign a Leicester midfielder, your mind would surely conjure up images of James Maddison strutting his stuff at the Allianz Arena, or Youri Tielemans launching those long-range rockets in the blue-and-red of Barca.

But, according to the Sun, Bayern, Barca and Serie A champions Juventus are looking instead at 19-year-old Tavares, a teenage play-maker who hasn’t even made a Premier League debut for the Foxes.

Tavares is out of contract in the summer and a Celtic side in need of some fresh blood apparently want to add the Portugal U19 international to a new-look midfield alongside David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro.

“It is the life of football,” Tavares said when asked about a move away from the 2016 Premier League champions.

“The most important thing is to be focused on my football and what is actually happening. The rest comes by chance.

“I have always trusted myself and I’m ready for everything, I feel prepared for the next leap.”

Brendan Rodgers might not have given Tavares the chance to prove himself at senior level but the former Celtic boss is clearly a big fan.

“Outstanding. He’s got real quality and he’s a real talent,” Rodgers told the Mercury after Tavares, the cousin of former Manchester United winger Nani, impressed during pre-season.
