Tom Davies has taken to Instagram to reveal that he won’t play for Everton again this season, as he struggles with a hamstring injury.

What’s the story?

Well, the 23-year-old underwent surgery to solve the problem in January, although the recovery process looks set to be a lengthy one.

Davies was nearing a return from a knee injury before the unfortunate hamstring damage occurred – it really has been a tough season for the midfielder.

Now, the Everton No.26 has told a supporter that he won’t play again until next season.

You can see the Instagram exchange between Davies and the fan below.

Now, that is very sad news for the England Under-21 international.

Davies has only managed to make seven appearances this season, and even when he was available, he was mostly left on the bench by Rafa Benitez.

Tom Davies will have a clean slate at Everton

It must be hugely frustrating for Davies to be absent, especially as Frank Lampard has just arrived at Goodison Park.

The Everton Academy graduate is surely desperate to get back to action and impress the new manager, although in a way, it’s a positive for Davies that Lampard is here.

As things stand, the ex-Chelsea boss hasn’t had a chance to look at Davies, so he will have a clean slate to impress once he returns.

The only danger is that Lampard may choose to sign a midfielder or two in the summer, which would push Davies further down the pecking order.

Hopefully, Davies will be given time to recover properly and show Lampard what he can do in the 2022/23 campaign.
