Rangers parted ways with manager Mark Warburton last month.

Rangers are looking for a new manager after confirming on their official website last month that manager Mark Warburton has resigned from his position at Ibrox.

Warburton guided the Gers to promotion from the Scottish Premiership last season, but lukewarm performances and disappointing results – such as the 4-1 defeat at Hearts in February – had piled the pressure on Warburton.

Whilst Warburton was under real pressure, many expected him to be sacked if he was to leave the club, but his resignation was accepted after a bizarre sequence of events regarding a failed move to Nottingham Forest, as reported by the Daily Record.

Graeme Murty has taken charge of the last four games, and whilst he oversaw a dramatic 3-2 home win over St Johnstone this evening, defeats at Dundee and St Johnstone mean he is unlikely to get the job on a full-time basis.

Bookmakers have been pricing up odds for who could replace Warburton, and here are five of the biggest movers in the market today, as compiled by Oddschecker.

Pedro Caixinha: 5/4

The shock favourite for the job now is Portuguese boss Pedro Caixinha. The Al-Gharafa boss has come out of nowhere in the odds, and now leads the way at just 5/4. Caixinha, 46, is currently managing in Qatar with Al-Gharafa after spells in charge of Uniao Lieira, Nacional and Santos Laguna. A left-field candidate, Caixinha was the long-term assistant to Jose Peseiro, another Portuguese manager linked with Rangers this week, but Caixinha is the hot favourite right now.

Derek McInnes: 5/1

With an impressive track record in Scottish football and history with Rangers having played for the club as a midfielder, Aberdeen boss McInnes has been the choice of many fans, pundits and ex-players. McInnes is now back down to 5/1 for the Rangers job tonight, but the Gers would have to pay hefty compensation to Aberdeen for his services – a figure that may be beyond Rangers right now.

Alex Neil: 6/1

Tuesday’s favourite for the job has slipped back in the odds today, as Norwich boss Neil is back out to 6/1. The Scot, 35, had an impressive record with Hamilton Academical before leading Norwich to the Premier League in 2015. Immediate relegation followed for Neil and the Canaries, and having struggled to take Norwich back into contention for promotion this season, his job has been under threat for some time. Right now, a move to Rangers seems unlikely, but at 6/1, he’s a name to keep an eye on.

Dougie Freedman: 10/1

Freedman would no doubt love the job having grown up supporting the Gers, but his managerial record doesn’t put him at the top of the list for many fans. Patchy spells with Crystal Palace, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest aren’t much to write home about, and he has now been out of work for almost a year having been sacked by Forest in March 2016. At 10/1, Freedman is back among the frontrunners tonight having drifted out in recent days, but still seems a long shot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 20/1

An interesting name to be thrown up today is Manchester United legend Solskjaer, who is currently enjoying a second spell in charge of Molde. The 43-year-old earned rave reviews for his first stint with the club, earning a move to Cardiff City in 2014, but he was sacked after just nine wins in 30 games. Now rebuilding his reputation in his native Norway again, Solskjaer is surprisingly in at 20/1 for the Rangers job – though Gers fans would possibly be worried about him copying compatriot Ronny Deila’s spell at Celtic.
