Queens Park Rangers are looking for a new manager after sacking Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Queens Park Rangers confirmed on Saturday evening that manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has lost his job after less than a year in charge.

Hasselbaink, 44, earned rave reviews with Burton Albion having won more than 60% of his games in charge of the Brewers, but left for Loftus Road in December 2015.

The Dutchman struggled with QPR though, winning only 13 of his 47 games in charge for a win rate of just 27.7% – and after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest, owner Tony Fernandes decided to sack Hasselbaink.

Hasselbaink leaves QPR in 17th place in the Championship table, six points clear of the relegation zone and six points off the play-offs, with Fernandes clearly feeling that QPR needed a change.

Fernandes now has the international break to find a new manager, and bookmakers have been pricing up odds for who could become the new QPR boss – and here are five of the most notable movers today, as compiled by Oddschecker.

Ian Holloway: A QPR hero having played for and managed the club, Holloway has been one of the leading options in the odds ever since Hasselbaink was sacked – and he was cut again today. Holloway, currently working as a Sky Sports pundit, is down to 17/10 for the job, making him the second favourite for the job, and a return to Loftus Road.

Gary Rowett: Birmingham boss Rowett is a surprise mover today. The 42-year-old has not only impressed at St. Andrews since taking the job in October 2014, turning Birmingham into a top half side again, but also starred with Burton Albion too, where he laid the foundation for Hasselbaink to impress. Rowett is now as short as 9/2 to become QPR’s new boss in a shock development, as many would see Birmingham to QPR as something of a sideways move.

Chris Powell: Powell recently spent time as Derby County’s caretaker manager, and he’s now working alongside the Rams’ new boss Steve McClaren as his assistant manager. The 47-year-old impressed in charge of Charlton Athletic, but won just 15 games in 57 as manager of Huddersfield Town, meaning his record is somewhat hit-and-miss so far. Now down to 8/1 for the QPR job, Powell could be a surprise candidate in the mix for the R’s.

Ryan Giggs: Since Giggs left Manchester United over the summer following Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford, he seems to have been linked with every post going; Hull, Swansea, Wigan Athletic, Aston Villa, the list goes on. Now, it’s QPR being touted as a possible destination for the Welshman, as he’s down to 19/1 for the job this evening. An inexperienced manager but one with real potential, QPR could do a lot worse than appoint Giggs.

Tim Sherwood: The hot favourite ever since Hasselbaink’s exit remains the top choice with bookmakers, as Sherwood is 8/11 for the QPR job. Out of work since losing his job at Aston Villa last October, Sherwood has a close relationship with QPR’s director of football Les Ferdinand having worked together at Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s no great surprise that he’s the odds-on favourite to take charge at Loftus Road.
