At one point, Clough was as short as 2/5 to become the Reds’ next manager, after he admitted that the job at the City Ground was one which interested him.

However, after having time to think, Clough opted to turn Forest’s advances down.

The 50-year-old said that Forest’s job had become available at the wrong time, and he wants to stay with Burton.

Clough is now a 14/1 shot to become Forest’s next manager, with a number of candidates ahead of him in the bookies’ selection order.

Brazil, who is currently in caretaker charge, is now the 5/4 favourite to become Forest’s next permanent boss.

Gary Rowett is then listed as a 9/4 shot, while Kenny Jackett is at 5/2. Paul Heckingbottom and David Unsworth, who are both listed at 10/1, are also believed to be possible candidates to take over by the bookmakers.
