Leeds United sacked Paul Heckingbottom earlier this month.
Leeds United are once again looking for a new manager having decided to part ways with Paul Heckingbottom last Friday, less than four months after appointing him.
The Whites were in a similar position last summer after seeing Garry Monk leave the club, and replacement Thomas Christiansen started well before fading away, eventually being sacked in February.
Owner Andrea Radrizzani swooped for Barnsley boss Heckingbottom just days later, but with just four wins in 16 games, he failed to convince fans and clearly didn’t convince Radrizzani, as he met his end at Elland Road at the start of the month.
Leeds fans are all too familiar with checking bookmakers’ odds for their new manager, and here are some of the main names in the frame for the Elland Road hot seat this evening.
As has been the case for many days now, Argentinian legend Marcelo Bielsa remains the favourite to take charge at Elland Road, and is today as short as 1/4 to take over from Heckingbottom in a stunning move.
Bielsa, 62, has become famed for his innovative tactical approach over the years with his 3-3-1-3 system, and given that he has been available having left French side Lille in December, Leeds are attempting to pull off a blockbuster move.
Elsewhere, Italian veteran Claudio Ranieri remains in the running at odds as short as 3/1, with former Uruguayan goalkeeper Gustavo Munua drifting out to around 14/1 having previously been one of the frontrunners.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is just 4/1 for the job as questions continue over Villa’s financial problems, whilst former Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy – a boyhood Leeds fan – is around the 5/1 mark with some bookmakers.
