Leeds United are interested in appointing Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou as their new manager having parted ways with Jesse Marsch today.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb over in Italy, who claim that Postecoglou is one of three main candidates for the Leeds job.

It’s stated that West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan is the top candidate for the job at the moment.

Yet it’s added that Steven Gerrard and Celtic boss Postecolgou are the other top candidates for Leeds after sacking Marsch.

The American boss is on his way out of Elland Road after taking just three points in his last seven Premier League games.

The report claims that surprise candidates ‘cannot be excluded’ as Leeds look far and wide for a new manager in the coming days.

Ange Postecoglou leaving Celtic for Leeds United would be a surprise

Look, we understand the pull of Leeds United; they’re one of the biggest and most historic clubs in England with an exceptional fanbase.

That will attract a host of potential candidates but Postecoglou may not be running to Elland Road.

The Australian already has a job coaching a huge, historic club with a great fanbase and has built up a great rapport with the Celtic supporters.

Postecoglou is on course to win a second league title in charge of Celtic and his teams have been playing outstanding football.

Interest from Leeds is understandable but Postecoglou is in a position where he will only leave Celtic for a job that ticks all of his boxes.

A relegation battle in the Premier League just doesn’t feel like the right move and we can imagine Postecoglou would prefer to stay at Celtic rather than leave in the middle of the season.

Leeds would love to have a progressive manager like Postecoglou but we think moves for Corberan or Gerrard would be much easier than landing the Celtic boss.
