Leeds United are chasing a new manager and sources close to Steven Gerrard think he has a great chance of landing the job.
Steven Gerrard is now thought to have a great chance of becoming the new Leeds United manager this summer.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that people close to Gerrard have confidence that he will land the job.
Those close to Gerrard believe he now has a ‘strong chance’ of landing the Leeds job despite links to other managers.
Carlos Corberan, Brendan Rodgers and Scott Parker are on the wish list too but there is a real positive feeling in Gerrard’s camp.
It’s even added that former Leeds hero Gary McAllister – Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers and Aston Villa – was invited to Thorp Arch before the end of the season.
McAllister came in to talk to the Leeds squad ahead of their final day clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The hope was that McAllister would inspire the Leeds side and help them beat Tottenham to keep their survival hopes alive.
That didn’t happen as Tottenham beat Leeds 4-1, sending the Whites down to the Championship, but it’s clear that McAllister is still valued around Leeds.

Maybe Steven Gerrard deserves more respect as a manager
The notion of Gerrard becoming Leeds manager hasn’t exactly been met with universal approval.
The Liverpool legend was sacked by Aston Villa in October, lasting less than a year in that job.
Gerrard started well but it all fell apart before Unai Emery came in to take Villa into the Europa Conference League.
That turnaround has left many questioning Gerrard’s managerial ability and some aren’t excited about him heading to Leeds.
Yet it’s easy to forget that Gerrard won a league title with Rangers and fared well in Europe.
That title-winning campaign was an unbeaten one, registering 32 wins, six draws, no defeats, 92 goals scored and just 13 conceded.
Gerrard clearly has some managerial ability and is very much used to the expectation levels at huge clubs.
Gerrard still has plenty to prove but he has shown enough in the past to suggest that he can galvanise Leeds alongside McAllister.
