Leeds United can see similarities in the styles of Marcelo Bielsa and Ange Postecoglou. But Celtic are confident the Australian will not be the next Whites manager after Jesse Marsch.

That is according to the Daily Record, which reports Celtic believe Postecoglou will stay at Parkhead over interest from Leeds. He is one of the favourites to fill the hot seat at Elland Road with Andoni Iraola of Rayo Vallecano and Carlos Corberan of West Bromwich Albion.

But Corberan is likely off the table after penning a new contract at The Hawthorns. So, the Elland Road outfit are now turning elsewhere as they look to replace Marsch. Leeds sacked the American this Monday with the West Yorkshire outfit 17th in the Premier League table.

Leeds have already begun interviewing potential managers but have not approached Celtic to request permission to talk to Postecoglou yet. Hoops chief executive Michael Nicholson and chairman Peter Lawwell also believe the 57-year-old is happy at the Premiership team.

Celtic also feel Postecoglou is motivated and fully committed to guiding the Bhoys to back-to-back Scottish top-flight titles. He led the Glasgow club to Premiership glory in his debut season in charge last term. Even after he oversaw a major overhaul in the transfer market.

But Postecoglou’s successes with Celtic have placed the Australian on Leeds’ radar as they target their next manager after Marsch. The Whites also see parallels between the Athen, Greece native and their ex-gaffer Bielsa, who Marsch only replaced on February 28, 2022.

Leeds believe Bielsa and Postecoglou demonstrate the same management style which saw the Whites secure promotion from the Championship. Bielsa also led the Elland Road team to ninth place in their first Premier League campaign since 2003/04 with an attacking style.

Postecoglou’s approach to the game at Celtic now captivates Leeds as they study options to be their next manager. Whites chiefs feel the Hoops boss, whom John Hartson says has been ‘absolutely magnificent’ at Parkhead, is a perfect fit with their club’s desired profile.
