Leeds United may now face competition from Leicester City as both teams consider appointing Scott Parker.

Leicester City are showing an interest in Scott Parker amid links with a move to Leeds United.

That is according to The Telegraph, who claim that Parker is firmly on the Leicester radar.

The Foxes sacked Brendan Rodgers in April in the hope of sparking a turnaround to avoid relegation.

Dean Smith came in to try and keep Leicester up but that just didn’t happen as they suffered relegation on the final day of the Premier League season.

Leicester must now decide whether they want to stick with Smith or go in another direction.

Parker is one of the candidates for the Leicester job and is available having been sacked by Club Brugge in March.

Scott Parker is a tough evaluation amid Leeds United and Leicester City interest

News of Leicester’s interest comes after speculation linking Parker with a move to Leeds United.

The Telegraph reported last week that Parker is a name on the Leeds United radar as they seek to replace Sam Allardyce.

We can understand why relegated clubs may be keen on Parker.

The 42-year-old guided Fulham to promotion via the playoffs in 2020, then took Bournemouth up automatically in 2022.

Two promotions to the Premier League makes Parker appealing, but he didn’t exactly impress upon reaching the top flight.

The 9-0 thrashing at Liverpool in August will sadly follow Parker wherever he goes. You just can’t escape a defeat like that.

Parker pushes an attractive brand of football which has sometimes been accused of being passing for the sake of passing.

Then there is Parker’s baffling time in charge of Club Brugge, where he lasted just 12 games having won only twice with one of Belgium’s biggest clubs.

Now available again, Parker’s promotion record has put him on the radar of both Leeds and Leicester – but both will surely ask questions about the longevity of such a move.
