Manchester United linked Youri Tielemans won a prestigious award in Belgium.
Exciting young Belgian talent Youri Tielemans has been honoured at an awards ceremony in his homeland.
The teenager has been voted the best young player in Belgium, after 310 players from the 16 Jupiler Pro League clubs cast their votes.
Tielemans is only 17 yet has made 33 first team appearances for Anderlecht this season, impressing in central midfield with two goals and five assists.
Already a Belgian under-21 international, had the World Cup been in 12 months time, he could well have been a candidate to gatecrash the senior squad.
Tielemans has been linked previously with Manchester United, who already have Adnan Januzaj in their ranks – who was named in his country’s preliminary World Cup squad yesterday.
A dominant central midfielder with an eye for a defence splitting pass, Tielemans is regarded as one of his country’s brightest prospects, and this award only adds to his reputation.
He follows in the footsteps of two-time award winners Vincent Kompany and Celestine Babayaro, and former United target Axel Witsel.
