Former Hull City boss Nigel Pearson and David Moyes, whose departure from Sunderland was confirmed recently, are included in the running.
Marco Silva has reportedly decided to leave Hull
According to Sky Bet, Nigel Pearson and David Moyes are both in the running to succeed Marco Silva as Hull City boss after the Portuguese triggered the release clause in his contract.
Sky Sports reports that following the Tigers’ relegation, Silva has decided to leave the KCOM Stadium, leaving the path clear for another manager to spearhead what the fans will be hoping is an instant return to the Premier League.
Aitor Karanka is the early bookies favourite
Bookmaker Sky Bet believe that Aitor Karanka is the most likely candidate for the job currently, with the Spaniard being listed as the 3/1 early favourite.
Karanka oversaw Middlesbrough’s promotion to the Premier League in the same season that Hull last went up, but the lack of exciting football during Boro’s year in the top flight – which also ended in relegation – may perhaps leave Tigers supporters slightly uninspired about the prospect of the 43-year-old being appointed.
Nigel Pearson has been linked with a return to his old side
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Pearson is also considered to be a genuine candidate for the role, with Sky Bet listing him as the 4/1 second favourite.
Pearson endured a fairly disappointing spell in charge of Hull between 2010 and 2011 and has not worked since his extremely underwhelming tenure with Derby last year.
Former Sunderland manager David Moyes has been listed as a candidate for the role
Meanwhile, Sky Bet have listed former Norwich boss Alex Neil at 4/1 also, while David Moyes – whose departure from Sunderland was confirmed earlier this week – is available at odds of 7/1, slightly ahead of Alan Pardew and Uwe Rosler, who are at 8/1.
Sky Bet have also listed the likes of Steve McClaren and Roy Hodgson (both 10/1), Derek McInnes (12/1) and Garry Monk (16/1) amongst the current outsiders.
