Tottenham Hotspur youngster Reo Griffiths has begun the season in top form.
While inevitable any young Tottenham striker will be compared to Harry Kane, the Ballon d’Or nominee has given the club’s young forwards belief that they can achieve their dream.
Perhaps the most exciting young striker in Tottenham’s academy at present is Reo Griffiths.
The 17-year-old scored 14 goals 27 games in all competitions last season, and this campaign he is looking even better.
Of his goals last season, seven came in 14 under-18 matches for Tottenham.
This year under the management of new under-18s coach Scott Parker, Griffiths has netted nine goals in 11 games.
Two of these came at the weekend in a 4-4 draw with Chelsea, and his work also pressured Blues defender Marc Guehi into scoring an own goal.
Griffiths has also scored in the UEFA Youth League this season, and has a total record of three goals in eight games in the competition.
Griffiths has to prove himself in under-23 football before making it in the first team, but so far the signs are promising.
Shayon Harrison’s star appears to have waned, and Kazaiah Sterling has overtaken him in the pecking order, making his debut in the Champions League last week.
If Griffiths keeps up scoring at a prolific rate, he too will be hard for Tottenham’s coaching staff to ignore.
