Slavisa Jokanovic has confirmed that he’s keen to bring Ben Davies to Sheffield United, after Liverpool revealed their stance on the defender.

What’s the story?

Well, after his £500,000 move from Preston to Liverpool in January, Davies has endured a strange time on Merseyside.

Jürgen Klopp hasn’t given the 25-year-old a single second of first-team football, and apparently, he’s now open to letting the centre-back leave on loan.

In his press conference today, Jokanovic added some more fuel to the fire by confirming his interest in the Liverpool No.28.

The Blades boss told Yorkshire Live: “I am interested. People are on their way. We move and are expecting in these next few hours there can be some news.”

With the Reds open to his departure, it feels as if it’s only a matter of time until Davies – who earns £60,000-a-week – moves clubs.

What is Liverpool’s long-term plan for Ben Davies?

At the time, Liverpool’s capture of Davies seemed baffling, and it remains just that.

After the arrival of Ibrahima Konate in a deal worth £36m, the Barrow-in-Furness-born centre-back has been shoved even further down the pecking order.

Davies now has Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Konate, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams to compete with at Anfield.

In truth, unless he is happy to sit around and be involved at one of Europe’s biggest clubs, he should find a new side.

In our view, Liverpool’s motive for signing Davies was just to make a bit of profit on him – surely, it couldn’t have been for on-field purposes.
