Aston Villa will send Boubacar Kamara to undergo scans in the next few days to reveal the full extent of the knee injury the Frenchman suffered at home to Southampton. But Steven Gerrard has admitted he is ‘worried’ about his summer arrival’s issue, via Birmingham Live.

Kamara had to withdraw from the Premier League action on the cusp of half-time at home to the Saints on Friday night. He had started the Villa Park affair to earn his seventh of the season so far, having opened all of the Birmingham outfit’s top-flight fixtures since joining.
Gerrard convinced Kamara to move to the Second City side in a Bosman deal in May ahead of his contract with Marseille expiring. The 22-year-old had played for his hometown team since 2005, but departed for pastures new and signed a five-year contract with the Villans.
Kamara has proven to be integral to what Gerrard is attempting to build at Aston Villa over the first month of the season. But the Villans boss is now facing an anxious few days whilst waiting for the results of the three-cap France ace’s scans entering the international break.

The timing of the final international break prior to the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar could see Kamara not miss a single Premier League fixture. But the initial verdict of Aston Villa’s medical team after edging Southampton 1-0 left Gerrard fearing for a prolonged absence.
“I’m worried about it,” Gerrard said. “It seems like every time we get three points it comes with a cost. We’ll scan him in the next couple of days but, yeah, I’m worried about it.”
Kamara had started strongly against Southampton, before Aston Villa lost their French star with a late first-half injury. He was mopping up loose balls and possession like usual, with a vital presence at the base of Gerrard’s engine room offering a productive defensive screen.
