Celtic are now expected to sound out Graham Potter over a move to replace Ange Postecoglou in the Parkhead dugout.
Ange Postecoglou has completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic could now turn to Graham Potter as a replacement.
That is according to The Scottish Daily Mail (06/06, p66), who claim that Potter is in the mix to become the new Celtic boss.
Brendan Rodgers seemingly won’t be in the mix but a few names are on the Celtic radar.
Enzo Maresca, Kjetil Knutsen, David Moyes and Jesse Marsch are all thought to be on Celtic’s list as potential Postecoglou replacements.
It’s stated that Celtic will now ‘sound out’ Potter to see if he is interested in a move to Parkhead.
Potter has been linked to clubs in England and even in Europe, meaning Celtic could face a battle for the Englishman.
It’s not that long since Potter was the hottest coaching name in English football.
Potter excelled in charge of Brighton and Hove Albion and landed himself a huge move to Chelsea in September.
That move really didn’t work out and Potter now finds himself out of work and needing to rebuild his reputation.
Tottenham Hotspur were also linked with Graham Potter
A move from Celtic to move for Potter would be interesting given his recent links with the Tottenham job.
The Daily Mail reported in May that Potter was emerging as a real option for the Tottenham position.
Spurs had just missed out on Arne Slot, who chose to stay at Feyenoord rather than head to North London.
Spurs had to pivot to other candidates and Daniel Levy seemingly had a close look at Potter as a potential appointment.
Tottenham ended up going for Postecoglou, and that may ironically pave the way for Potter to take his role at Celtic.
This isn’t a nailed-on deal but Celtic will now hope to try and convince Potter into making the move up to Scotland.
