Steve Bruce is the heavy favourite to land the Aston Villa job now.

Steve Bruce is now the clear favourite to become the next manager Aston Villa, according to bookmaker SkyBet.
Bruce’s odds have shortened from just below evens to 4/9 overnight, as the former Hull City boss has been heavily backed from punters.
Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner was Bruce’s closest rival to land the job at Villa Park, according to the bookies. However, Wagner has drifted from as short a price as 5/2 to 6/1 – with Bruce now out on his own.

Bruce is believed to be on Villa’s list of possible targets to replace Roberto Di Matteo, but the BBC suggest that another nine targets are also of interest.
Bruce has a vast experience of managing at Championship level, and he recently managed to guide Hull City to promotion.

Whoever takes over at Villa has a tough job on their hands, as the Claret and Blues are playing catch up with the top six already.
Villa have won just once in their first 11 Championship matches, and currently lie 10 points away from the play off spaces.
