Aston Villa parted company with Roberto Di Matteo earlier today.

Steve Bruce is currently the odds on favourite to land the Aston Villa manager’s job with SkyBet, following the dismissal of Roberto Di Matteo earlier today.
Di Matteo left Villa after guiding the Midlands side to just one win in their first 11 Championship matches.
Di Matteo’s last match in charge of Villa was a 2-0 defeat against Preston North End at Deepdale last weekend.

The Claret and Blues are now on the search for their third manager in under a year, and it is Bruce who the bookies feel is most likely to land the job.
The former Hull City boss is currently rated as the 4/5 favourite to be Villa’s next manager.
Other notable contenders include Brentford boss Dean Smith (4/1), Sam Allardyce (8/1) and David Wagner (8/1).
Current caretaker boss Steve Clarke is considered a 10/1 shot, while Tim Sherwood’s odds have dropped from 40/1 to 12/1 today, following his comments that he would be open to a return to Villa Park.

Villa’s next match comes after the international break, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Midlands derby.
