Steven Gerrard is keen to land a replacement for injured winger Jamie Murphy.
Subsequent to the rumours emerging, Aarons sent a message out on Twitter, attempting to keep his focus on the task at hand.
Aarons is part of Newcastle’s squad and has until now been trying to force his way into manager Rafa Benitez’s plans.
The 22-year-old has not featured in any of Newcastle’s Premier League games yet.
If he stays, an opportunity could be on the horizon this week with Newcastle facing Nottingham Forest in the League Cup on Wednesday evening.
This could either propel him closer to the first team for league games, or even convince interested side Rangers, or another team, to push to sign him before Friday’s deadline.
