Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing the Liverpool front-man.

According to a report from the Chronicle, Newcastle are interested in signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi this summer, but is the Belgian the type of striker Rafa Benitez should be looking to bring to St James’ Park this summer?
The 23-year-old joined the Reds from Lille in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth on the region of £10 million, but he has failed to establish himself at Anfield, scoring just 21 goals in 77 appearances in all competitions.
He has spent two separate loan spells away from Liverpool at Lille and Wolfsburg respectively, and he didn’t fare much better there either, with just 16 goals to his name in 86 combined appearances.

Origi is incredibly quick, but he lacks composure in front of goal, and considering Newcastle’s need for an out-and-out goalscorer, a move for the Belgian seems to make little sense.

The 23-year-old has far from proven himself in the Premier League, and if anything he has shown that he is nowhere near ready for the physical challenge that England’s top flight poses.
The Chronicle claims that Newcastle want to sign the Liverpool forward on loan, and whilst that means there would be little risk involved in a swoop for the 25-capped Belgium international, they would surely be better off spending some serious cash on a striker who has proven Premier League pedigree.
