Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has spoken highly of Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino to AS.

Benitez believes that Pochettino is doing very well at Tottenham, and that the former Southampton manager has shown that he is a long-term success.

The former Liverpool boss told AS when asked about Pochettino: “He’s at a good club and he’s doing very well. He’s one of the most highly rated coaches in England.

“That’s a sure-fire sign that he’s been getting results consistently and over a prolonged period of time; that he hasn’t just had a good year.”

Success at Tottenham Hotspur

Pochettino was appointed the Tottenham manager in the summer of 2014, and since then, he has taken the North London outfit to another level.

These days, Spurs regularly compete for the Premier League title and also feature in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

What is remarkable about Pochettino is that he has not spent a lot of money to achieve the success that he has got at Spurs.

In fact, Tottenham did not sign a single player in the summer of 2018 or in the January transfer window.

Spurs are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 60 points from 27 matches, while Newcastle currently find themselves 15th in the standings with 28 points from 27 matches and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
