Dummett will link up with Bale at Wales.
Newcastle United’s Paul Dummett and Huddersfield Town’s Tommy Smith in action
Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has told the Chronicle that he enjoys learning from Real Madrid star Gareth Bale while on international duty with Wales.
Dummett will be linking up with Bale as Wales prepare for their World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Georgia as they look to build on their 4-0 win over Moldova.
Wales’ Gareth Bale
The defender seems to use it as an opportunity to learn from one of the World’s best players, telling the Chronicle: “You never think you’d be training with one of the best players in the world like Gareth Bale. It’s good for me to watch and learn, and see how he trains and the stuff he does.
“That can only help me growing up as a professional. It will help me get better.”
He’ll hope that anything he learns on international duty not only enhances his prospects of kicking on with his international career, but can be translated into his club form.
Paul Dummett celebrates after scoring the third goal for Newcastle
Dummett has been a regular for Rafa Benitez this season having played 10 of the Magpies 11 Championship games this season, and helped them to be within three points of leaders Huddersfield Town at this early stage of the season.
If the Newcastle defender can find ways of dealing with Bale in training then his club will hope that he can implement those aspects of his game into stopping what the Championship has to offer. It would certainly please Rafa Benitez, who down the years has liked his defence to remain pretty solid wherever he has been at.
