Diame has scored his last two Mgapies goals against former clubs.
Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame has joked to the club’s official website that he wishes his side were facing West Ham United next as he might be able to continue his streak of scoring against former clubs.
Diame struck the opening goal for the Magpies in their 2-0 win over his old side Wigan Athletic on Wednesday evening as they returned to the top of the Championship table.
That is the second time in a little over a fortnight that the 29-year-old has found the net against a former club, following his strike against Hull City in the EFL Cup at the end of November.

Between his spells at the Latics and the Tigers, the latter of whom he left for St. James’ Park in the summer, the Senegalese star spent two years at West Ham between 2012 and 2014.
He joked after last night’s win that he wishes he was facing the Hammers this weekend in a bid to continue his haunt of his old employers, but admitted he is just glad he was able to boost his confidence with another goal.
Diame told the Newcastle website: “It was a strange feeling, but I’m always happy to score goals. It was important to show that I’m an important player for the Newcastle team, and give back the confidence that the manager has shown in me.
“It’s important, and for me it’s good for my confidence as well. Now, I’m looking forward to the next one. I feel my legs are back, the confidence is coming back as well slowly, and now it’s just about keeping on working and getting better every game.
“I scored against Hull, then Wigan – it would be nice if we could play against West Ham now! But I’m always happy to score.”
Diame was an important figure during his time at Upton Park, scoring seven goals in 79 appearances in all competitions before leaving for Hull.
