Wolverhampton Wanderers held Newcastle United to a 1-1 draw this week.
Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has suggested to The Telegraph that he believes Wolverhampton Wanderers are overrated.
Newcastle were minutes away from a big 1-0 win at in-form Wolves on Monday night, only for Willy Boly to grab a stoppage-time equaliser for the hosts.
Wanderers are seventh in the Premier League table, 14 points and nine places above the relegation-threatened Magpies.
And Hayden, who opened the scoring for United at Molineux, admits that although the table doesn’t lie, he can’t see why Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are doing so well on their return to the top flight.
He told The Telegraph: “If I am being brutally honest, I am struggling to see why they are seventh. We have given them two good games this season, one at home and one away. We have come out of them both thinking we deserve a lot more.
“But the table doesn’t lie, they have done well against other good teams, so they deserve to be where they are, but it is disappointing really.”
It was Hayden’s first goal for Newcastle this season, after the 23-year-old, valued at £10 million by the North-East club [The Chronicle], handed in a transfer request in January.
His willingness to get on with things despite failing to leave Tyneside is testament to his professionalism, having established himself as a key player for Rafael Benitez in recent weeks.
