Dwight Gayle’s decision to move down to the Championship was a stroke of genius, and there’s plenty of reasons why.

Newcastle United must have thought they had won the lottery when Dwight Gayle agreed to move to the Championship side in the summer. As it turns out, they were absolutely right. The former Palace man has been a revelation at St James’ Park, with his 13 goals and two assists being a shining example of that.

The way Gayle moves, brings others into the game and finishes with such precision goes above and beyond the second tier. This division is allowing him to once again shine under the spotlight and gain more and more confidence ahead of a likely promotion with the Magpies.

It was a genius move for him to take the step down from the top flight and now as he moves into the prime of his career, there is no limit as to what the 26-year-old can accomplish.

There’s no two ways about it – Dwight Gayle is the best player in the Championship. Nobody can touch the guy and the sooner Newcastle gain promotion so that he can ply his trade at a higher level, the better.

Whilst the rest of the side is also at an extremely high level, it’s Gayle’s composure and confidence that comes through above anything else and you just cannot teach that.
