The Newcastle United goalkeeper made headlines while on loan at Aberdeen recently.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has told The Shields Gazette that he hates the tedium of having to save penalties in training.
The 21-year-old is swiftly establishing himself as something of a penalty specialist.
Woodman, on loan at Aberdeen, saved three spot-kicks during a penalty-shootout win over Kilmarnock in a Scottish Cup quarter-final recently.
The exciting Magpies youngster also saved a penalty for England Under-17s in the final of a European Championship tournament when he was 16, and also denied somebody from 12 yards last summer when the Young Lions became World champions at Under-20 level.
At just 21, Woodman surely has a big future ahead of him but, oddly, the youngster claimed to The Shields Gazette that having to practice saving them ‘does his head in’.

He said:”Penalties seem to follow me wherever I go. I’ve come out on top in a few now, and hopefully it can stay like that during my career.
“Goalkeepers don’t practise penalties. If anything, we hate them. At training, players want to do penalties all the time and it does my head in, as it means diving about everywhere.”
Next season might be too soon for Woodman to stake a claim for Newcastle’s number one shirt, regardless of what division Rafael Benitez’s side are in, but one thing for sure is that he’s a superb prospect and one who Magpies fans can look forward to seeing on a regular basis eventually.
