Newcastle United need to bring in new signings during the January transfer window.

Newcastle United have been inconsistent of late, and it’s clear that boss Rafael Benitez still needs new faces to really push the club forward again.
Players may need to leave too, and with that in mind, here is a five-point plan for Newcastle in next month’s transfer window…
1. Sign an attacking midfielder
Ayoze Perez has bore the brunt of Newcastle fan frustrations this season, with the Spaniard still not looking like a natural number 10. A big signing in that role – such as Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron – would be a huge step in the right direction, and create more chances for Salomon Rondon.
2. Break the club’s transfer record
Newcastle have famously failed to break their transfer record for almost 14 years now, having signed Michael Owen for £17million in 2005 (BBC Sport). The Magpies are being left behind by pretty much all Premier League clubs in that regard, and it’s time that Benitez was allowed to make a star signing for around £20million in January.
3. Attempt to snap up another striker
Salomon Rondon has impressed of late, but the Venezuelan is only on loan, and the likes of Joselu and Yoshinori Muto have struggled so far this season. Another striker would be ideal for the Magpies, giving Benitez more firepower going forward for the rest of the season and beyond.

4. Offload Achraf Lazaar once and for all
It’s almost remarkable that left back Lazaar is still a Newcastle player. The Moroccan is clearly completely out of favour under Benitez, and has absolutely no chance of playing even with Newcastle needing a left back. A move back to Italy would surely be on the cards for Lazaar next month.
5. Let one goalkeeper go
Newcastle have seen Martin Dubravka star in goal since his arrival last January, but the Magpies have another three goalkeepers at the club in Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman. It’s time to let one go, with Darlow surely in the sights of many Championship clubs.
