Newcastle youngster Barlaser has endured a difficult 2017-18 campaign.

Newcastle United midfielder Dan Barlaser has told the Evening Chronicle that he wants to remain on Tyneside for “many years to come” despite a disappointing 2017-18 campaign on loan at Crewe Alexandra.
The 21-year-old was loaned to the League Two side in the January transfer window, but after just four appearances for Crewe, his temporary move was cut short.
Barlaser, a Turkey youth international, has managed just three senior appearances for the Toon – all of which have come under Rafa Benitez – but remains a prominent part of Newcastle’s second string.

With 77 appearances in Premier League 2, Barlaser will be hoping to make a breakthrough into Newcastle’s first team next season unless he goes out on loan. He delivered an update on his future, stating he wants to remain at Newcastle.
“It’s been a learning curve of a season in terms of getting to exactly where I want to get to,” Barlaser said.
“Going down to League Two and things having not really worked out how I wanted, it meant I’ve come back here and I’ve loved playing with the Under-23s lads again. And I want to play for Newcastle for many years to come, too.”

Barlaser, who was born in Gateshead but has represented Turkey’s Under-17 side on six occasions, still has two years remaining on his current deal at St. James’ Park.
It remains to be seen if the midfielder will be loaned out this summer, with the likelihood of first-team football still well out of his reach as the Toon boast the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Mo Diame, Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden in the middle of the park.
