The Newcastle United youngster filled his boots in his latest outing.

Newcastle United player Adam Armstrong scored a hat-trick for England’s under-20 side earlier today as they smashed Nigeria 8-1 in the opening match of the Continental Cup on South Korea.

Armstrong is highly rated at St. James’ Park but he is currently on loan at Championship rivals Barnsley as he continues his development.

The 19-year-old has scored three goals in 10 appearances this season, following on from his 20 goals in 40 matches for loan club Coventry City in the previous campaign.

And now he has added another three international strikes to his tally with Taylor Moore, Dominik Solanke, Callum Connolly and Patrick Roberts also getting on the score-sheet.

It was a superb showing from the young England side and Newcastle fans in particular will take heart from Armstrong’s performance.

The Magpies have a number of striking options this season in the form of Dwight Gayle, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez, so it will be interesting to see how their manager Rafa Benitez utilises Armstrong when he returns in time for next season.

By then Newcastle will be hoping to be back in the top flight, and a third loan move in quick succession would not be beyond the realms of possibility, before Armstrong finally gets regular first-team football at St. James’ Park.
