Newcastle’s Achraf Lazaar has suggested that clubs are interested in signing him.
Newcastle United left back Achraf Lazaar has told Tutto Mercato Web that he has heard of interest in his signature – and thinks Thomas Heurtaux is a good player having been asked about him joining the Magpies.
Newcastle currently sit top of the Championship table having beaten Brentford 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, and look to be on course for a return to the Premier League.
Many of Rafael Benitez’s summer signings have impressed, with Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden, Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle all starring, but one player who hasn’t made a huge impact yet is Achraf Lazaar.

Signed from Palermo over the summer, the Moroccan left back has yet to start a Championship game this season, and has played just six times in all competitions since making his move to Tyneside.
That lack of first-team football may be frustrating to some, but Lazaar has commented on his future in an interview with Tutto Mercato Web, with his comments suggesting that he’s happy at St. James’ Park.

Lazaar can’t be registered by another club this month having already played for Palermo and Newcastle this term, but he stated that he isn’t bothered about that, as whilst he’s heard of interest in his services, he doesn’t want to leave Newcastle.
“For me, no,” he said when asked about the three-club rule being an issue. “I’m good at Newcastle. I have heard of interest from some teams and I’m glad – but I’m happy here and I want to be a leading player (for Newcastle).”
Lazaar was then bizarrely asked whether he would like to see Udinese defender Thomas Heurtaux sign for Newcastle, despite seemingly no indication that the Magpies are actually interested in signing the 28-year-old centre back.
The left back did respond, stating that he thinks Heurtaux is a good player, but he is the one who must made a decision on his future – meaning there may well be some interest from Newcastle after all.
“A good player, I played against him, but the decision must be his,” he added when asked about Heurtaux possibly joining Newcastle.
