The 21-year-old Moroccan has made four appearances for Newcastle’s under-23’s so far this season, and youth team boss Peter Beardsley highlighted the youngsters potential earlier on in the season, calling El-Mhanni’s ability ‘unbelievable’ (the Chronicle).

El-Mhanni told reporters from nufc.co.uk how he wants to keep working harder and improving, despite scoring against Boro under-23’s on Monday:
“This is good, but not good enough – I need to do more. This is the first time I’ve been in a professional environment, so I really need to take it seriously and hold on to it, because this is what I’ve been dreaming of all my life. Now that I’m here, I really need to take this opportunity with both hands. I need to add goals and assists, and if I can do that, I might have a good future here.”

The Newcastle first-team is flourishing under Rafa Benitez at present, so this season will probably be too soon for the youngster to get his chance in the Championship, but if he continues to prove what he is capable of, from both a talent and work-ethic perspective, then anything is possible for El-Mhanni.
