The Toon Army are expecting Rafa Benitez to bring a lengthy list of top quality signings to St James’ Park this summer, as the Magpies look to enjoy a successful campaign back in the Premier League.

The Spaniard will more than likely be looking to strengthen in every department, but one particular area where he might be focusing on is the attacking wide areas, with more competition needed for the likes of Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu.

With this in mind, an interesting option for Newcastle could be Toffees winger Kevin Mirallas.

Everton are expected to go big in this summer’s transfer window, and if Ronald Koeman manages to sign some of the attacking players he has been linked with, the Belgian could find himself down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

And the Toon should attempt to convince him to move to Tyneside wth the offer of regular first-team football.

The 29-year-old would add a certain level of potency to Newcastle’s front-line, especially down the left flank, and his penchant for cutting inside and shooting at goal would provide the team with a more direct facet to their play.

Mirallas possesses exceptional pace in short spurts, and is extremely skilful when in possession of the football. His inclusion in the Magpies side could help bring out the best in Dwight Gayle, what with his eye for a killer pass.

The 56-capped Belgium international’s contract with he Blues does not expire until 2020, so he will surely command a fairly hefty transfer fee, but with Mike Ashley’s expected backing this summer, Newcastle should not have a problem in matching the Merseyside outfit’s valuation of the player.

Tempting Mirallas into a move to a club with no European football on offer could prove tricky, but with the World Cup just one year away, the guarantee of regular first-team football could be enough to convince him to move to St James’ Park.
