Newcastle United-linked Roque Mesa is set to join Sevilla permanently.
According to BBC Sport, Swansea City midfielder Roque Mesa is set to complete a permanent move to Sevilla, effectively ruling out a move to Newcastle United.
Mesa, 29, endured a nomadic career in Spain before starring with Las Palmas, and his impressive displays in more than 125 appearances for the Canaries earned him a move to the Premier League with Swansea last summer.
However, the 5ft 7in midfielder struggled to settle with the Swans, and made just 16 appearances for the club before being farmed out on loan to Sevilla during the January transfer window.

Mesa’s return to Spain saw him play seven games for Sevilla, and BBC Sport report that he is now set to complete a permanent move to the Andalusian side, with a fee of around £8million involved.
Mesa will become the second departure this week for Swansea, as Lukasz Fabianski left the club for West Ham United, with Spaniard Mesa set to bring his miserable time at the Liberty Stadium to an end.
Intriguingly, Deportes ABC Sevilla reported last week that Fulham and Newcastle United were both keen to sign Mesa, but he had already decided on Sevilla, and with his move now imminent, Rafael Benitez doesn’t appear to be joining forces with his compatriot.
After such a miserable spell in the Premier League, that may be best for the Magpies, but there may yet still be a chance if Sevilla choose to sell Mesa straight on this summer – though that doesn’t look likely at the moment.
