Newcastle United speed machine Rolando Aarons is growing frustrated on the sidelines at St. James’ Park.
Rolando Aarons has confessed to the Evening Chronicle that he is growing “more and more frustrated” with a lack of game time at Newcastle United and failed to rule out a move in January.
Aarons, 21, has been plagued by injury during his young career, making only five appearances last season due to a broken metatarsal and a ruptured cruciate ligament.
Now fully fit again, the speed machine has made just one appearance for the senior team throughout the entire 2017-18 campaign so far, scoring one and creating another in the 3-2 extra-time Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.
However, the Newcastle academy product stated that it is too early to consider a move away from Newcastle in the January transfer window, and even claimed that he could be in the side to face Manchester United on November 18.
“I just think about working in training,” Aarons said, when asked about the possibility of a January transfer. “I don’t look too far ahead, it’s too early.
“For all you know I might be playing against Man United, I’m not sure yet. Every week I am not in the squad I am more and more frustrated.”
Aarons appeared for Peter Beardsley’s reserve side on Tuesday night in the Checkatrade Trophy against Oldham at Boundary Park, scoring the Toon’s only goal in a 4-1 defeat.
It remains to be seen if Aarons will continue to fight for his place or jump ship, but a permanent move away from Newcastle seems unlikely with the youngster’s contract at Newcastle still four years away from expiring.
