The Daily Mail has claimed that Newcastle are close to finalising the signing of Holding on loan from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
It has been reported that the Magpies will wrap up the deal after this weekend, meaning that Leeds will miss out.
The Chronicle has claimed of interest in Holding – who can operate as a central defender or as a right-back – from Leeds, stating that the promoted Premier League club are keen on the 24-year-old.
The report in The Chronicle also quoted a source close to the player as saying that a move to Newcastle is a possibility.
Summer transfer
Holding is a very good player who is hugely talented and was described as “a proper talent” by former Arsenal star Ray Parlour in Football.London in June 2020.
Leeds signed Robin Koch yesterday, but the Whites could do with another central defender for their first Premier League season since 2004, as they need a bigger squad to compete in the top flight of English football.
A season-long loan for Holding would make sense, but it seems that Newcastle have beaten the Whites to the 24-year-old.
Holding may have failed to establish himself as a regular at the Gunners, but he is a very good defender who can only get better.
