Newcastle United will not make any imminent efforts to advance Eddie Howe’s interest in a transfer for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic until the closing stages of the summer sales.
Newcastle to make Eddie Howe wait amid interest in Christian Pulisic of Chelsea
Eddie Howe will have to wait until deep into the last month of the summer transfer market to develop Newcastle United’s interest in Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic. That’s according to The Northern Echo, who report the Magpies are in no rush to acquire the American star.

Pulisic has emerged as an option for the Toon as St James’ Park chiefs strive to hand Howe a right-winger. The Tyneside outfit are determined to strengthen their forward options this summer, having identified the position as an area of need opposite to Allan Saint-Maximin.

Reports by The Athletic first noted Newcastle’s interest in a potential move for Pulisic with his future at Chelsea uncertain. Magpies chiefs are paying close attention to developments at Stamford Bridge, keen to capitalise should Thomas Tuchel make the forward available.
Pulisic joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019 for £58m, but has entered the final two years of his contract. The 23-year-old also only started in 13 of 22 Premier League appearances last season, despite offering six goals and two assists from an array of areas.

Christian Pulisic would offer Eddie Howe a vastly versatile dynamic threat
Tuchel utilised Pulisic’s versatility with the 50-cap USMNT captain featuring as a striker, on both wings and in behind the centre-forward. He also made a cameo from the bench in the final 25 minutes of the Blues’ 1-0 win over Everton last Saturday as an attacking midfielder.
Howe would benefit from Pulisic’s versatile, dynamic threat at Newcastle, should the Toon advance their interest in the Chelsea livewire Jurgen Klinsmann once called ‘fantastic’. The Telegraph also reported back this May that the American was considering his Blues future.
Pulisic was willing to consider moving away from west London if his Stamford Bridge team received an offer for him. A lack of regular minutes under Tuchel last term left the winger studying his position. And he would stand a strong chance of being a regular at Newcastle.
