David Ornstein has said on The Athletic’s YouTube channel that Newcastle United are not going to poach a manager from another Premier League club.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that the new Newcastle owners are not planning to raid another Premier League club for their manager.

Ornstein has said that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) do not want to ruffle any more feathers than they already have.

In recent weeks, Newcastle have been linked with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Graham Potter.

The Chronicle are now reporting that Paulo Fonseca is the leading contender for the Newcastle managerial role.

Ornstein said on The Athletic’s YouTube channel: “It was pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago by decent contact that they will not look to ruffle the feathers of Premier League clubs, not more than they already have with the takeover, by taking anybody that’s in work.”

Big decision ahead

Yes, PIF have a lot of money, but appointing a permanent successor to Steve Bruce is not going to be easy.

Newcastle are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.

It is very unlikely that the Magpies will be able to attract top-quality players in the January transfer window.

The manager who immediately comes in will have to make sure that Newcastle do not get relegated from the Premier League.

How many world-class managers can you name who can keep a team up with the players that Newcastle have?

Okay, Rafael Benitez, but the Spaniard is not leaving Everton.

In our view, Amanda Staveley and co. have to be very careful in regard to who they appoint as their next manager.
